  1. You may configure MAIL MANAGER +PLUS+ via the following options:
  2.  
  3. A) Select the conferences from which you would like to extract
  4.    messages.
  5.  
  6.    On your first trip into the door, Mail Manager +Plus+ sets
  7.    you up to receive messages in all conferences that you have
  8.    joined from RBBS-PC.  You can turn a conference "on" or "off"
  9.    by entering the conference number at the prompt.  A conference
  10.    is selected as "active" if it is surrounded in brackets, such
  11.    as:

  13.      [MAIN   ]
  14.  
  15.    There may be many conferences to choose from.  You can save
  16.    yourself some time by "stacking" the conference numbers here.
  17.    For instance, you can enter:
  18.  
  19.      1 15 20 25 50
  20.  
  21.    ...to toggle conferences numbered 1, 15, 20, 25, and 50.

  23. X) Select which messages in your chosen conferences to extract.
  24.  
  25.    Mail Manager +Plus+ will normally download mail based on the
  26.    last message that you've read in each conference.  Since you
  27.    can read mail both online AND offline, and have the option of
  28.    telling Mail Manager +Plus+ NOT to update your last message
  29.    read markers, you might want to use this option from time to
  30.    time to reset them to what you want.

  32.    You may set this in a number of ways:
  33.  
  34.       - by entering a specific message number,
  35.       - an increment such as +50 or -25,
  36.       - "L" to reset to the last message in the conference,
  37.       - "L-10" to extract the last 10 messages, or
  38.       - just press [ENTER] for no change.
  39.  
  40.    After setting your message marker, you will have two other choices.
  41.  
  42.    The first is to choose what type of messages to select for this
  43.    conference.  You may choose three possibilities:
  44.  
  45.       - receive ALL messages.
  46.       - receive personal only.
  47.       - apply the system default (all or personal only) as
  48.         selected by configuration option D.
  49.  
  50.    The second is to choose whether or not to receive messages that you
  51.    have posted in this conference.  The three possibilities are:
  52.  
  53.       - receive your own messages.
  54.       - don't receive your own messages.
  55.       - Apply the system default (receive or don't receive messages that
  56.         you have posted), as selected by configuration option E.
  57.  
  58. B) Format of downloaded mail packets (Text or QWK).
  59.  
  60.    Set to TEXT if you want to use Mail Manager +Plus+ as a simple
  61.    "extract and download" system (all messages in a single
  62.    continuous ascii file).
  63.  
  64.    Set to QWK if you want to read and reply offline using a
  65.    QWK-compatible mail reader like SLMR.
  66.  
  67. C) Do you want messages addressed to "ALL" marked as personal in
  68.    your QWK packets?
  69.  
  70.    If set to "Y", Mail Manager +Plus+ will add messages addressed
  71.    to "ALL" to your QWK packet personal index.
  72.  
  73. D) Do you want to extract ONLY your personal mail as system default?
  74.  
  75.    If set to "Y", Mail Manager +Plus+ will not extract a message
  76.    unless it is addressed to you.  (Will also extract messages to
  77.    "ALL" if you have option C set to "Y".)  You may override this
  78.    setting for individual conferences - see configuration option
  79.    X.

  81. E) Do you want to extract messages written by you?
  82.  
  83.    If set to "NO", Mail Manager +Plus+ will not include messages
  84.    from you in your packet.  You may override this setting for
  85.    individual conferences - see configuration option X.
  86.  
  87. F) Do you want to abort the download if no new messages are
  88.    found?
  89.  
  90.    You might not want to do this if you would still like to
  91.    receive new file listings or updated system news or bulletins.
  92.  
  93. G) Do you want to have updated bulletins included in your packet?
  94.  
  95.    If set to "Y" all bulletins newer than your previous logon
  96.    date for this BBS will be included in your mail packet.
  97.  
  98.    If set to "N", any updated bulletins which the sysop has
  99.    designated as mandatory will still be included.
  100.  
  101. H) Do you want new file listings included in your packet?
  102.  
  103.    If you select this option, a listing of newly-uploaded files
  104.    will be included in your mail packet.
  105.  
  106.    This option may not be operational on all systems.
  107.  
  108. I) Do you want to confirm you wish to receive the packet prior
  109.    to the actual download?
  110.  
  111.    If set to "Y", Mail Manager +Plus+ will stop and ask you
  112.    whether or not to send you the packet before it starts the
  113.    actual file transfer.
  114.  
  115. J) Which type of file compression do you want to use on your mail
  116.    packet?
  117.  
  118.    You can choose from the file compression utilities offered by
  119.    your sysop (ZIP, ARC, etc.)
  120.  
  121. K) Which file transfer protocol do you wish to use?
  122.  
  123.    Choose from the protcols offered by your sysop (Xmodem,
  124.    Zmodem, etc.).  Set to "N" (None) if you'd like to choose
  125.    your preferred protocol on each file transfer.
  126.  
  127. L) Do you want Mail Manager +Plus+ to tell RBBS-PC that you've
  128.    read the mail that you download from this door?
  129.  
  130.    If this is set to NO, both RBBS and Mail Manager +Plus+ will
  131.    think that you haven't read the messages that you've downloaded.
  132.    (Mail Manager +Plus+ will extract them again your next time in).
  133.  
  134. M) Do you want Mail Manager +Plus+ to tell RBBS-PC when you read
  135.    mail online while in this door?
  136.  
  137.    If set to NO, any messages you read in the door will still be
  138.    downloaded in your next mail packet.  This can be handy for
  139.    checking a message or two before downloading your mail.
  140.  
  141.    If set to YES, the highest message number you read sets your
  142.    high message marker, and only higher message numbers will be
  143.    included in your next mail packet.
  144.  
  145. N) Maximum number of messages desired per packet/conference.
  146.  
  147.    There is a predifined limit of total messages that you may receive
  148.    in any one mail packet.  If you would like to limit your mail
  149.    packets to a smaller total number of messages, and/or restrict
  150.    each conference to a certain maximum number of messages in each
  151.    conference, this is where you do it.
  152.  
  153. O) Only active conferences in CONTROL.DAT.
  154.  
  155.    If you would like to see only the conferences that you have selected
  156.    in your QWK packet, you can cut down the time required to build the
  157.    QWK packet considerably by setting this option to "Yes", especially
  158.    if this BBS has hundreds of different conferences available.
  159.  
  160.    The downside is that depending on the offline reader you're using,
  161.    you may not be able to "ADD" or "DROP" a conference via a REP packet
  162.    unless all conferences are listed.
  163.  
  164. T) TurboKey toggle.
  165.  
  166.    If set to "Yes", Mail Manager +Plus+ will act on 1-character
  167.    commands wherever it can, without requiring you to press
  168.    [ENTER] afterwards.
  169.  
  170. Q) Quit the configuration section and return to the main menu.  
  171.  
  172.    You have the option of savings your settings for the next time into
  173.    Mail Manager +Plus+.  If you do not choose to save your settings,
  174.    your changes will be valid only for your current Mail Manager +Plus+
  175.    session.
